本文以1912年创刊于上海的《真相画报》为中心,研究早期岭南画派的政治思想和艺术理念,以及研究岭南画派是如何通过图像传播的方式来表达它的政治思想和艺术理念。

《真相画报》在我国近代画报发展史上有着极为重要的地位,是民国时期最早且最有影响的政治画报。该刊由岭南画派创始人“二高一陈”直接参与办报及撰稿,具有很强的政治色彩;其中该刊的编辑及大部分及撰稿人均来自岭南画派,因此可以说它也是岭南画派宣传“新画法”的主要阵地。

本文围绕以下几方面展开分析:

首先,该刊的创办人有留学日本、加入同盟会并长期追随孙中山进行革命活动的经历,因而明确提出了办报的四大宗旨:监督共和政治、调查民生状态、奖进社会主义、输入世界知识。这是岭南画人的政治宣言,同时也反映出了岭南画派提出“新艺术”的思想依据。

其次,《真相画报》在开刊的序言中已经表明“监督共和”是该刊的重要任务,因此本文着重分析了作为报人的“二高一陈”是如何通过图像的形式对民国初期的政局进行分析评述和监督、批判。本文希望能够从这一方面推进人们对岭南画派的政治性的传统认识,力图还原和分析岭南画派先驱的政治抱负和政治行为,进而更为深入地认识他们所秉持的民主共和理念以及他们的社会政治关怀。在这里,《真相画报》所刊载的大量反映时事与政局的图像材料给我们提供了“图史互证”的重要史料。在这些图像材料中既有当时最为先进的写真摄影,也有大量具有讽刺性质的政治漫画,另外还有图文并置的纪事画类。作为民国时期上海出现的第一份政治画报,其政治的性质大大地超出了文人艺术的局限,而艺术在这里已经成了政治传播的重要手段和工具。

再次,《真相画报》毕竟是由革命派组织创办的,甚至是直接受到了孙中山思想主张的影响,使得这份政论报刊在实质上依然保持着辛亥革命前期政党报刊的性质,其特征就是强烈的战斗性和针对性。因此,《真相画报》的政治思想依然是以体现革命团体的利益为中心,例如在画报中将袁世凯刻画成猿猴加以讽刺,又如宋教仁案发生后,主编高奇峰亲自参与侦查案件,画报中连续4期刊登刺杀案真相,这些时间都将矛头指向了袁世凯画报的这一激进行为正好给孙中山发起的“二次革命”起到了舆论宣传作用,然而对于这次事件的武装反抗本非明智之举,从目前的研究分析看,这对共和政体的法治建立的反而带来了障碍。因此可以说,《真相画报》在艺术宣传方面有它的独到之处,但是在政治觉悟方面也存在欠缺之处。

The aim of this thesis is to study the political thoughts and art concepts about the early South of the Five Ridges school, and also discuss how they spread the thoughts and concepts through the graphics, basing on "The True Record" Launched in Shanghai at 1912.

 

"The True Record" is an significant pictorial in the Chinese modern time, and it’s the most influential, earlest political pictorial in the early Republic. There’s a strong political overtones in the publication because that the founders who were Jianfu GaoQifeng Gao and Shuren Chan would compile the pictorial directly. Simultaneously, the pictorial is the New Painting’s forward position of South of the Five Ridges school, on account for the most of writers form the school.

 

This paper would focuse on the following aspects:

First, the founders made it clear that the four purpose of the "The True Record" was “Supervising republican political” Surveying people's live status” Promoting socialist” and ”Importing world Knowledge”, all of these was based on their experience which was studying in Japan, joining the United League and revolution activities of Sun Yat-sen for a long time. These were the political declaration of the South of the Five Ridges school’s artists and the ideological basis of “New Art”.

 

Second, because the important mission of "The True Record" is Supervising republican political”, how did the founders comment, supervise and criticize the political situation of the early Republic though the images is the focal point of this article. It would like to propel the political traditional understanding of the South of the Five Ridges school, restore and analyze their political ambitions and political behavior, then comprehend deeply their concept of democratic Republic and Social and political concern. The massive photos which reflected current events and political situation in "The True Record" is important historical materials of certification between the history and imges. These image materials included the most advanced photography, ironic political cartoons and illustrated chronicle painting. As the Shanghai first political pictorial in the early Republic, its nature of politics beyond the limitations of the literati art, yet art become an important means and  tools of political communication here.

 

Thirdly, "The True Record" was found by the revolutionary and even influenced by Sun Yet-sen’s thoughts direct at all, therefore it remained  the nature as same as the political newspapers and periodicals’  in the early Revolution of 1911. Its features were intense fighting and direction. Thence Political Thought of "The True Record" was still take the revolutionary groups’  interests as the most important thing, such as the satire to the Yuan Shih-kai as a monkey, the assassination of Song Jiao-ren which Gao Qi-feng involved in the investigation of case personally and published the truth in four issues. Both were denounce Yuan Shih-kai. These  aggressive behavior Played the public propaganda effect to the Second Revolution started by Sun Yet-sen. But the armed resistance was not a wise move. From the present study analysis, it bring an obstacle to the establishment of a legitimate republic. As a result of it, "The True Record" was unique in the art of propaganda but insufficient in the political consciousness
