没有一种文化像中国画那样追究历史、注重传统。通过浸润传统文化之中，并不断摩习、增补和改进，同时追摹、步韵前人的意境与图式，实现与古人对话，从而发展出自己的艺术性格是每一个走传统文艺道路者的惯例。如何看待并领悟文征明的作品，是还原文征明文人园林山水画创作原始语境的关键！只有探析、读解了这种作品之外的原始语境，才能领会到文征明：“传统中或有他自己的影子，自己的影子又不时叠加在传统之上。”本文着重研究分析、读解文征明热衷的文人园林山水画，及其以外的语境。同时也作为笔者研究生期间专业课题研究的理论知识学习和创作实践指导。

文章在第一章阐述了明代文人园林及园林山水画的创作背景之后，通过对文征明代表性的园林山水画具体地对比分析，总结其特点，理解其同一题材在不同时期以相似表现形式作品的细微差异，从而，对其作品所蕴含的含义、成因进行深入的分析构成了本论文的主体部分，即文章的第二、三章。最后一章探讨文征明的文人园林山水画对后学者的影响。
