生态艺术从最初关注人类自身周边的自然环境发展到后来对自然本身的转向，艺术家们不断尝试运用各种自然媒介进行创作沟通，希望借以自然材料唤醒观众对自然生态的思考。随着创作媒介的丰富以及对自然材料的挖掘，植物作为自然中最普遍且带有生命属性的材料逐渐在生态艺术创作中获得越来越多的关注。一方面植物作为修复自然生态的主要天然媒材具有一定的社会属性，另一方面植物可以作为艺术语言融合进生态艺术的创作，用以传递作品最直观的视觉意义，最终成为人与自然之间符号与意义相互沟通的媒介。 本论文将分成五个章节展开研究，第一章着重梳理生态艺术的发展历程，将生态艺术作为一个独立的创作单元，从源头和定义中厘定其意义范畴，同时提及植物媒介在生态艺术中的出现；第二章将按照其艺术形式、植物材料类型分述讨论植物作为媒介在生态艺术中的作用及其意义；第三章分析植物媒介在生态艺术中的艺术意义及表达；第四章以植物生长为视角，进一步分析植物生长在生态艺术实践的意义；第五章整理中国生态艺术中植物作为媒介呈现出的独特审美及其深层意义。 植物作为生态创作的创作媒介，一方面作为符号指向指代自然，同时其具备的生命特征能激发人们对生命最本能的联想与思考，引起人们对自然生态最本能的共鸣和敬畏；一方面植物对自然生态做出实际上的改善，体现出自然美学；另一方面植物作为人们沟通、参与自然生态的桥梁，人们在参与生态艺术实践的同时理解自然生态，理解人类与自然生态的关系，使得人、自然生态、自然界其它生命形成一个密切相关的整体。

As the medium of ecological creation, plants, on the one hand, point to nature as symbols, and at the same time, their life characteristics can stimulate people's most instinctive associations and thinking about life, and arouse people's most instinctive resonance and awe of natural ecology; on the one hand, plants The actual improvement of natural ecology reflects natural aesthetics; on the other hand, plants serve as a bridge for people to communicate and participate in natural ecology. People understand natural ecology and the relationship between human beings and natural ecology while participating in the practice of ecological art.
